Frequently asked questions
Installing, activating and owning Blox Rack, Blox Delay and Blox Exciter. Can’t find your answer? Write to support@pinedsp.com.
The basics
What do I need to run the plugins?
Every Blox plugin, Blox Rack included, has the same requirements.
- Mac
- macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple Silicon or Intel. VST3, AU and AAX.
- Windows
- Windows 10 or later, 64 bit. VST3 and AAX.
You also need a DAW that loads one of those formats. Pro Tools uses AAX. Most other DAWs use VST3, and Logic Pro uses AU.
Blox Rack
What is Blox Rack?
Blox Rack is a whole effects chain in one plugin. It has nine slots and six effects to fill them: Exciter, EQ, Compressor, Delay, Chorus and Reverb.
Use any effect as many times as you like, in any order, one after another or side by side. Four LFOs, an envelope follower, six macros and an XY pad bring it all to life, and around 500 factory presets give you somewhere to start.
How is Blox Rack different from Blox Exciter and Blox Delay?
Blox Exciter and Blox Delay are single effects, each sold as its own plugin. Blox Rack holds all six Blox effects, the same Exciter and Delay included, plus the routing, modulation and presets that tie them together.
If you want one effect, get the single. If you want the whole chain in one place, get the Rack.
I already own a Blox plugin. Is there an upgrade price for Blox Rack?
Sign in on the Blox Rack page with the account you bought with. If there is an upgrade price for your account, that is the price you will see.
Can I automate Blox Rack from my DAW?
Yes. The six macros and the XY pad show up in your DAW ready to automate. For anything else, right click a knob or switch, choose DAW Automation and pick one of 20 slots.
The automation follows the module if you move it around the rack, so rearranging never breaks a session.
Does Blox Rack add latency?
No. Blox Rack runs with zero latency, so it stays perfectly in time with everything else in your session.
Installing
How do I install on a Mac?
- Quit your DAW.
- Open the installer (
.pkg) from your download and follow the prompts. - Enter your administrator password when asked. The plugin installs for every user on the Mac.
- Open your DAW. If the plugin isn’t there, run a plugin rescan.
The installer puts each format here:
- VST3
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3- AU
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components- AAX
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins
How do I install on Windows?
A proper Windows installer is on the way. Until then, the
download is a ZIP with a VST3 folder and an
AAX folder, and installing takes a minute by hand.
- Close your DAW and unzip the download.
-
From the
VST3folder, copy the.vst3file intoC:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 -
From the
AAXfolder, copy the.aaxpluginfile intoC:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins - If Windows asks for administrator permission, click Continue.
- Open your DAW. If the plugin isn’t there, run a plugin rescan.
You only need the formats your DAW uses. Pro Tools users can skip the VST3 file, everyone else can skip AAX.
The plugin isn’t showing up in my DAW
- Quit and reopen your DAW.
- Run a rescan from your DAW’s plugin manager.
- Check the plugin is in the folder listed in the install steps above.
- Make sure your DAW is set to scan the format you installed.
